At the Senior Citizens Hall, behind spiral staircase, behind Massimo Cafe, The Strand Takapuna Speaker: John Gully QSM John has been trekking in the Everest region for over 29 years and has guided over 1200 people on Youth to Everest and Everest Base Camp treks. He managed climbing expeditions to Mt Everest in 1988, 1989 and 1990 before concentrating on trekking and conservation work. John lives in St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes National Park. In the 2013 New Year's Honours John was awarded the Queens Service Medal for services to New Zealand Nepal relations. Nepal, Beyond the Mountains. Conservation/ community work. ** Tea, coffee and bickies will be served after. Sunday 17 September Whangaparaoa Peninsula low tide - SPRING OPEN DAY!! Making the most of the low tide at 10.11am, join us for a visually stunning foreshore tramp, with absolutely fascinating geological rock formations nearer the point. Then we'll spend some time exploring the Shakespear Regional Park. We'll be walking across, rocks and sand for most of the tramp, so please be aware that there will be slippery surfaces, then up over the hills after. The views on this tramp never disappoint, so bring a camera or your phone. (Please be respective of the seabirds, as they maybe commencing nesting). Newbie's please contact the organiser to register your interest to attend. WelcomeBased in Auckland, New Zealand, the North Shore Tramping Club is a friendly club offering a wide range of trips, mostly in the northern half of the North Island.
The club consists of people of all ages who tramp for recreation, fun and fitness. We welcome and encourage individuals and family groups and you don't need to be a member to tramp with us. We organise regular trips to cater for people of different levels of fitness and tramping experience.
